A. Kenneth Gilbert

Kenneth Gilbert, 63, went to be with the Lord Thursday, May 30, 2013 in Kingsport, TN.

Born in Russell County, VA, he was the son of the late Claude and Margaret Gilbert. He resided in Lebanon, VA until moving to Kingsport in 1994.

Kenneth retired from the United States Marine Corp. He was a Corporal with the 1st Marine Division, 3rd Battalion, 7th Regiment, LIMA Company serving in Vietnam from 1968-1970 where he earned the Purple Heart.

He loved spending time with his family, working in his yard, and hanging out with his dog, Choco.

Surviving are his wife, Aleta Gilbert, of the home; daughter, Jaime (Aaron) Lane, Lebanon, VA; sons, Will Gilbert, of the home and Brice Jones, Kingsport, TN; granddaughters, Gwen, Chloe, and Sydney Lane; sisters, Glenna Rittenhouse, Mendota, VA; Faye (Danny) Chapman, Harrisonburg, VA; Evelyn White, Lebanon, VA; and Annette Hughes, Lebanon, VA; brother, Alfred (Judy) Gilbert, Harrisonburg, VA; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends 5:00 -7:00 p.m. Sunday, June 2, 2013 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Services will follow at 7:00 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Cameron officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted on Monday, June 3, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by American Legion Posts 3/265. Those wishing to attend the graveside service should meet at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m.
