Aaron Jarrard

Aaron Jarrard of Gulf Shores, AL passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at the VA Hospital in Biloxi, MS.
He fought a courageous battle with cancer. Aaron was born September 23, 1942 in Towns County, GA to the late Emmett Jarrard and Kathryn Jarrard-Waugh. In 1959 the family moved to Kingsport; he lived here only a short time before joining the Army, where he served his country proudly. He spent many years in the Birmingham area before moving to Gulf Shores, AL. Aaron was a retired over-the-road truck driver. He was of the Baptist faith and loved his family dearly.
Aaron was preceded in death by his brother, Harold R. Jarrard; brother-in-law, Franklin McClure; and two nieces, Tammy and Kathy Jarrard.
Survivors include his son, Gregory Allen Jarrard and daughter-in-law, Kristi of Hueytown, AL; grandson, Caleb; granddaughter, Morgan; mother, Kathryn Jarrard-Waugh of Kingsport; siblings, Jewell McClure of Woodstock, GA, Janett Nicholson and special brother-in-law, Hugh of Homer, GA, Drenda Pierson and husband, Bill of Fall Branch, TN, Roy "Tex" Jarrard and wife, Nancy; Monty Jarrard and wife, Patty of Kingsport; aunt and uncle, Ruth and Sidney Salyers; seven nephews and many cousins.
There will be no formal visitation but family and friends may call anytime at his mother's residence. Graveside services will be conducted at 1pm on Friday, June 10, 2011 at Mountain Home National Cemetery with Rev. Allen Buckles officiating. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Posts #2/365.
