Addie B. Gibson Kress, 72, Greeneville, formerly of Kingsport, passed away Friday, February 13, 2009, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center after a brief illness.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Vance C. Kress; her parents, Arch and Flora Smith Gibson; three sisters, Myrtle Waters, Vernie Smith, Kate Light, and Berneice Light; and one brother, Marvin Gibson.
Surviving are one daughter, Stella Crawford and husband Robert of Greeneville; two granddaughters, Sherry Dolen and husband David of Kingsport, Sheila Johnson and husband Jason of Church Hill; four great-grandchildren Cody and Jessie Medlin, Chase and Linsey Johnson; three brothers, Gary, Elmer, and William Boyd "Joe" Gibson; several nieces and nephews; and very special friends, Ronald and Janice Christian.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport or any time at the home of a granddaughter, Sherry Dolen.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with Rev. Wayne Baker officiating. Interment will follow at Light Cemetery, Beech Creek Community. Pallbearers will be David Dolen, Jason Johnson, Cody Medlin, Chase Johnson, Glen Light, Johnny Light, Mike Light, and Ronald Christian.
Honorary pallbearer will be Junior Light.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors and nurses at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center, Emergency Room, Fourth Floor, Third Floor ICU, and ICU Step-Down and Wilcox Hall Third Floor for all of their help and kindness shown to our mother and grandmother during this time.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 508 Princeton Road, Suite 102, Johnson City, TN 37601 or to the church of one's choice.
