Alan Craig "Bean" Bailey, 55, Kingsport, died Monday, November 23, 2015, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
He was born in Kingsport, TN on November 29, 1959. He graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School, and went on to become first pressman at several local printing companies.
He was known to his friends, family, and classmates, as an entertainer and storyteller -- good-natured, fun-loving, kind, and fearless. Remembered by all, Craig loved listening to music (especially Hank Williams) and singing, with impromptu renditions of his favorites, including "I Saw the Light." In later years, he was full of compassion for animals, enjoyed Karaoke, and had a love for the Atlanta Braves, Virginia Tech football, and NASCAR racing, specifically Richard Petty and Tony Stewart.
Bailey is survived by his two children, Joshua and wife, Crystal (and children), and Ian and wife Destiny (and children); his mother, Phyllis, of Kingsport; his two brothers, Steve (and wife Sherry), of Yulee, FL, and Jeff, of Kingsport, TN; along with many relatives and loved ones, including close friend Deena Talbert. Bailey is preceded in death by his father, Fred Bailey.
Memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Bristol Motor Speedway, Attn: Speedway in Lights. 151 Speedway Blvd, Bristol, TN 37620.
In closing, our beloved Craig left us with a final thought (as of May 2nd): "I just want to say: Thank you God for a beautiful day."
