Alberta "Pete" Good

Alberta “Pete” Good, 88, of Gate City, VA, went to be with the Lord early Monday, March 25, 2024, after fighting a courageous health battle for 12 years. She was born in Harlan, KY and had lived in Gate City since 1960. Alberta was a secretary and bookkeeper for Blue Ridge Properties until her retirement. She was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church. Alberta was an avid reader, a loving grandmother, and a devoted wife of 69 years. She enjoyed traveling with her friends and family and spending time in New Smyrna, FL.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Thomas Adam Bishop. 

Alberta is survived by her husband, Jack Good; son, Jeff Good and wife Gerena, and Gerena’s son, Donavin Estep and wife Kayle, daughter, Sherri Devine and husband Tim; grandchildren, Jeserae Good, Hanna Devine, Chelsea Khan and husband Jamil, and Ryan Devine; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their special appreciation to Nova Health and Rehabilitation Center and Ballad Health Cancer Care.

The family will receive friends from 12 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Wayne Baker and Mike Bays officiating.

Burial will follow at Holston View Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Pleasant View Baptist Church, 2101 Stadium Dr., Kingsport, TN 37664 or a charitable organization of your choice in memory of Alberta Good.
