Alfred (Frank) Franklin Bolling, Jr. finished his work on Earth on Friday, April 25, 2025. Frank was born in 1959 in the small, close-knit community of Arcadia, a place that would remain the center of his heart and the backdrop of his life's work.
Frank spent his life devoted to serving and supporting his community. Known and loved by so many, the impact of his influence will be felt for generations to come. Hard work and helping others were at the core of who he was. For 32 years, he was a dedicated and respected employee at Johnson Controls before continuing his career at Comfort Systems USA. There, he carried on his legacy of leadership — not from behind a desk, but by working alongside his employees, offering guidance, direction, and steady friendship. Through his career, Frank built a "second family," becoming a surrogate father, brother, and trusted friend to many.
Frank was preceded in death by his mother, Jane Williams Parks; and his maternal grandparents, Hampton and Audrey Williams. Raised in his grandparents’ home, which served as the heart of the family, Frank developed lifelong relationships with his cousins, aunts, and uncles that were as deep as those of siblings. Frank was fortunate to have many cousins who were more like brothers to him, and their bond remained strong throughout his life. Though too numerous to list, their importance in his life cannot be overstated.
While his work ethic was legendary, Frank’s greatest devotion was to his family. His most cherished titles were "Dad," "Papaw," and "Uncle Frank." He is survived by his daughter, Amanda Bowen (Anderson); sons, Alex Bolling (Jennifer) and Jacob Bolling; and his beloved grandchildren, Oliver Bowen, Sarah Jane Bolling, and Benjamin Bolling. He is also survived by his sisters, Susan Bolling Varrone and Deanna Gray (Jason); and his nephews and nieces, Joseph Varrone, Nicholas Varrone, and Marisa Varrone Mengel (Tanner), Jane Ann Gray, and Jackson Gray.
Frank Bolling’s life was a living example of commitment, kindness, and perseverance. His legacy is etched not just in the work he accomplished, but in the countless lives he touched. His memory will live on through the family and friends who loved him so dearly.
Frank’s children warmly invite all those who knew and loved him to join them in honoring his life. Family and friends are welcome to gather at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, located at 117 E Charlemont Avenue, Kingsport, TN, on Monday, April 28, 2025, between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to share memories, offer support, and celebrate the life of a man who meant so much to so many.
