Alfred Jones, 80, passed away Monday, April 6, 2020 at home surrounded by family after an extended illness. Alfred was a very proud Veteran of the United States Army. He was a graduate of Lynn View High School and of ETSU. He retired from Eastman Chemical after 36 years. Alfred was a renowned artist and a published author, but he was best known for being a loving, caring and kind husband and father. His biggest love was his family and his beloved dog, Max.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Lula Mae Jones; sisters, Shirley Jones and Linda Smith; and brothers, Alvin and Robert Jones.
Alfred is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Peggy Jones; son, Mike Jones and special friend, Ginger Conklin; two daughters, Sherry (Jones) Taylor and husband, Gary, and Karen (Jones) Lovegrove and husband, Tim; granddaughter, Halee Taylor; three brothers, Carl Jones, Jimmy Jones (Lucille), and Dale Jones (Polly); two sisters, Helen Wallen and Peggy Stallard; two special brothers-in-law, Richard Duncan and Billy Duncan (Valerie); and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions the family will hold a private funeral at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home.
