BOLD PRINT: Alice Jo Castillo
Alice Josephine Hillman Castillo was born August 28, 1928, in Coeburn, Virginia, to Luther Monroe and Dora Edna Philgard Hillman. She died September 6, 2007, at Greystone Health Care Center in Blountville, Tennessee.
Jo graduated from Coeburn High School in 1947 and played basketball there. After high school she went to Johnston Memorial School of Nursing in Abingdon, Virginia, and completed nursing training in 1951. She attended Coeburn United Methodist Church most of her life, but in her later years attended Highland Fellowship and always treated her religion seriously.
Josie was a very sweet and caring person who had a pleasing smile to all with whom she came into contact.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Anebil del Castillo; her parents, Luther and Dora; brothers, Earl, Buck, and Bill; and sisters, Eloise Fleenor, Marguerite Bolling, Dorothy Bolling, and Ann Sayers.
Surviving are her four children, Danny Lee, Michael, Dora Ruth, and Kevin Caudell who all live in the Richmond, Virginia vicinity. There are several surviving grandchildren. In addition, there are two surviving siblings, Ruth Hillman Willis of Arizona and Frank Hillman in Kingsport, Tennessee. Other survivors include a sister-in-law, Westeen; and special friends, Wanda Davidson, Billie Jordan and her sister, Margaret.
There will be a memorial service for Alice Josephine Castillo at Highland Fellowship in Abingdon, Virginia, at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 20th.
