Alice Marie Foutch

On December 2, 2009 Mimi left us to be at peace with the Lord. Born on May 18th, 1927, Mimi lived most of her life in Kingsport, later moving to Bean Station, and finally to Rutledge.

She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Myrtle "Maw" Minton and Acy "Paw" Minton, as well as her brothers, Stanley Minton and Junior Minton.

She is survived by her sister, Elizabeth Ketron of Kingsport. She is also survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Nina and Ron Lewis of Kingsport and her son, Duffey Foutch of Rutledge. She is survived by her four grandchildren, Kyla Carter of Efland, NC, Nathan Foutch of Bristol, VA, Casey Lewis of Kingsport and Logan Lewis of Kingsport. In addition, she is survived by her great-grandson, Jackson Carter of Efland, NC.

A working mother, Mimi was employed by Mead Paper Company in Kingsport for over 25 years. After she retired, Mimi became an avid volunteer. She opened a second-hand clothing store and donation center in Rutledge. Later, that clothing center became a part of the larger organization, Appalachian Outreach. Mimi spent much of her time volunteering for Appalachian Outreach and helping them to raise money through their thrift store. They, along with the State of Tennessee, honored her as "Volunteer of the Year" in 2005. Helping other people was an important part of her life and a value she tried hard to share with others.

In addition to volunteering, Mimi spent a lot of time attending the swim meets, soccer games, basketball games and baseball games of her grandchildren. She could always be heard from the sidelines as the loudest cheerleader. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, spending her life forming what she later called her "rocking chair memories". She loved her family more than anything. Her smiles and her laughter will be greatly missed, but her love will always be with us.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Dr. Robert Boofer officiating.

Graveside services will be held on Friday at 9:00 a.m. at East Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Nathan Foutch, Casey Lewis, Logan Lewis, David Carter, Dwight Ketron, and Dennis Ketron. Honorary pallbearers will be Mitch Bedingfield, Nathan Free, and Greg Wood.
