Allene H. Jones

Allene H. Jones, of Kingsport, passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2012 while surrounded by her family and friends at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center following a brief illness.

Born on December 21, 1930 in the Bull Run section of Wise County, VA, she had resided most of her life in Kingsport. Allene was a graduate of St. Paul High School and was employed for over 35 years at Sullivan Elementary School as a kindergarten aide.

Allene was a member of Glen Alpine United Methodist Church for over 50 years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and loved working with young children.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold L. Jones; parents, Allen Evans and Theodosia Sutherland Evans Yokley; and one sister, Vivian Young.

Surviving are her son, Barry Jones and wife Terry of Weber City, VA; three grandchildren, Molly Clark and husband Robert, Zach Jones and wife Brandi, and Quinton Jones; one great-grandson, Christian Jones; one future great-granddaughter, Emma Clark; one brother-in-law, Charles Young of Kingsport; two nieces, Phyllis Landwerth and Delores Hunt, both of Kingsport; and several other nieces and nephews. She is also survived by special friend, Joe Bowery of Kingsport and other special friends and neighbors in the Sullivan Gardens Community.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Glen Alpine United Methodist Church. Services will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Dale M. Gilbert and Rev. Don Hanshew officiating.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
