Alta Irvin Tester

Alta Irvin Tester, 75, of the Fordtown Community, went to be with her Jesus on Monday, July 20, 2015 at the home of her nephew. Alta was born February 20, 1940 in Fordtown, TN, where she spent her entire life. She graduated from Holston High School and was a member of Fordtown Baptist Church. Alta served in several capacities with the nursery and children's church. She had a love for children though she never had any of her own, baby-sitting for dozens in the family and in the community.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Minnie Irvin; her husband, John R. Tester; two brothers, Harold Irvin and Hollis Irvin; sister, Tennessee Peters and husband,
E.S. Peters.

Also is survived by sisters-in-law, Helen Tester of Stoney Creek, and Shelby Irvin of Kingsport, and several nephews and nieces.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 12:30 - 1:30 pm at Fordtown Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 1:30 pm. With Rev. Bryan Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Happy Valley Cemetery in Elizabethton.
