Amanda Jo Mowdy

Amanda Jo Mowdy, 24, of Kingsport passed away unexpectedly while attending a Motor Cross Race in Rockingham, NC, on Sunday, September 1, 2013.

Born in Johnson City on August 22, 1989, a daughter of Tammy Jo Minnick Mowdy and Rick Mowdy, she had lived here her entire life.

A 2008 graduate of Sullivan South High School, she attended Northeast State and was a CNA. She attended Celebration Church, Kingsport, and God's Meeting House in Mooresburg, TN.

Amanda Jo was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Worley and Wanda Minnick and her paternal grandmother, Weda Mowdy.

She is survived by her fiancé, L.C. Barnard, Jr., Mooresburg; her parents, Tammy Jo Minnick Mowdy and Rick Mowdy, both of Kingsport; her paternal grandfather, Charles Mowdy, Blountville; uncles, Ronnie Minnick and wife, Jennifer, Dewaine and Mary Ann Mowdy, Lonnie and Sheila Hite, and Gary and Donna Mowdy; and several cousins.

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 6, 2013, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport. The service will follow at 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel with Rev. Gary Baker officiating and the eulogy presented by Bishop William Gibson.

The graveside service will on Saturday, September 7, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at East Lawn Memorial Park with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers are L.C. Barnard and Ronnie Minnick. Those attending committal services are asked to assemble at the graveside by 10:45 a.m. Saturday.
