Andy Agett

Dr. Andrew "Andy" Agett, 75, of Kingsport, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, November 5, 2014.

Born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, he was the son of the late Dr. Albert Henry and Julia Hammond Agett. He had many interests: first of all he adored his grandchildren. He was an excellent golfer, loved nature and enjoyed his weekly bridge club games. He delighted in spending time on the farm with his rescued alpacas and was always eager to show their pictures that he carried in his wallet.

Andy graduated from Davidson College and received his D.D.S. from University of Tennessee in 1967. He owned his practice for over forty years. He was a member of Blountville United Methodist Church for 35 years.

He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 51 years, Diana Woodard Agett of the home; one daughter, Elizabeth "Beth" Agett Denton and husband, Anthony, Abindgon, VA; two sons, Michael "Mike" Andrew Agett and wife Cindi, Kingsport, TN; and Tim Agett, Bristol, TN; seven grandchildren, Sarah, Nick, Adam, Rachel, Katie, and Caleb Denton, and Chelsea Marie Blaine-Agett; brother, Chip Agett and wife Sandy, Blountville, TN; two sisters, Gail Agett Cooler and husband, Karl, Bristol, TN; and Jamie Agett Maness and husband Ron, Simpsonville, SC; nieces and nephews, Bryan, Avery, Danica, and Elana Woodard, Jennifer Braden, Courtney Carpenter, and Wilson Ligon.

The family will receive friends 3-5:00 p.m. Saturday, November 8, 2014 at Blountville United Methodist Church.

The funeral service will follow at the church with Rev. Susan Arnold officiating.

Entombment will be 1:00 p.m. Sunday, November 9, 2014 at Tri-Cities Memory Gardens Mausoleum.
