Ann Miles Bowen, 71, Kingsport, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, April 30, 2008.
She was born June 12, 1936, in Mosheim, Tennessee. Ann graduated from Mosheim High School where she was an outstanding basketball player. She attended Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tennessee where she was a member of Delta Pheta Sigma sorority. She was a former employee of Tennessee Eastman Company, and was currently employed by American Greeting Cards. She was an active member of Bethany Presbyterian Church. Ann was an animal lover who enjoyed reading, traveling, working in her flowers, and especially spending time with her grandchildren.
Her parents, Harmon and Fannie Armstrong Miles, and a brother, Johnny Miles, preceded her in death.
Surviving are her husband of 51 years, Paul L. Bowen; one daughter Susan Frye and husband, David of Kingsport; one son, John Bowen and wife, Beth of Charlotte, North Carolina; three grandchildren whom she adored, Caroline, Lilianne, and Preston; one sister, Martha Shelton and husband, Eual of Greeneville, TN; two brothers, Bobby Miles of Knoxville, Tommy Miles and wife, Geraldine of Mosheim; a sister-in-law, Marty Miles of Greeneville; many special nieces and nephews; and many loving friends.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Bethany Presbyterian Church with Pastor Chuck Echols officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be David Frye, David Miles, Ron Miles, Tim Shelton, Terry Miles, and Roy G. Bowen.
