Ann Clemens Overton of Kingsport passed away on Friday, July 18, 2014.
Ann was born on January 30, 1936, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She attended Michigan State College, University of Colorado and University of Arkansas in Little Rock, where she obtained a degree in education. For several years she taught school in the Denver City School System.
In 1980, Ann moved with her husband, Judge William Taylor Overton, to Kingsport where she served as President of the local chapter of League of Women Voters, enjoyed playing bridge and tennis, and belonged to several book clubs whose members are valued friends.
She was a member of Holston Valley Unitarian Universalist Church (HVUUC). She served as President for two years and participated in numerous church programs.
Mrs. Overton was preceded in death by her parents, Fredrick Roy and Margaret Clemens.
Ann is survived by her husband, William Taylor Overton; daughter, Paige Elizabeth Overton; son, Andrew Taylor Overton; brother, Fredrick Roy Clemens, Jr. and wife, Sandra; and sister, Susan Clemens Palmer and husband, Robert.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 20, 2014, at 4 p.m. at HVUUC, 136 Bob Jobe Road, Gray, TN 37615. The family will receive visitors immediately following the service.
