Ann Thompson, 78, Kingsport, TN, passed away October 18, 2012 after a long illness.

Ann was born in and lived her entire life in Kingsport. She graduated from Dobyns- Bennett High School where she was active in intramural sports.. After graduating from business school, she married H. Wayne Thompson in 1955 and they were together for 57 years. They were married at First Methodist First Broad Street in Kingsport and were active in hospital/homebound visitations for many years.

Ann worked at Tennessee Eastman for 10 years in Research and Development before choosing to become a homemaker and raise her family.

Ann served faithfully as a church organist for over 30 years at First Methodist Church and Mountain View United Methodist Church. She was a faithful member of her church and contributed time and donations to many causes.

Ann was preceded in death by her husband, H. Wayne Thompson; daughter-in-law, Debbie McAmis Thompson, and parents, Bedford Forrest Henderson and Effie Henderson.

Surviving are sons, Steve Thompson who resides outside the country, Jon Thompson of Powell, TN; brother and sister-in-law, Alan and Martha Henderson; brothers-in-law, Lowell and Sam Thompson; sisters-in-law, Charlene Clark, Jan Barrett, both of Kingsport, Katherine Price of Westland, MI; grandson-in-law, David Cervone of Windsor, CA and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral home, Kingsport. A funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jack P. Weikel and Dr. J. Spurgeon McCartt officiating.

A graveside service is scheduled for Wednesday at East Lawn Memorial Park.
