Anna Anderson Dodson

Anna Anderson Dodson, 83, of Kingsport, died Tuesday, January 21, 2014, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. Born March 31, 1930, in Huntington, WV to James Clyde and Bertha Martin Anderson, she graduated from Church Hill High School in 1948. She married Howard Joe Dodson on June 6, 1949, and worked for Eastman before moving to Pasadena, TX in 1953. She worked for Kelly Mfg. Co., Firth Sterling and retired from Cactus Petroleum. Anna was a member of the Pasadena Garden Club, Pasadena Historical Association and did volunteer work for the Salvation Army. Anna and Joe returned to Kingsport in 1991, and became members of First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Howard Joe in 2010; parents, James Clyde and Bertha Martin Anderson; daughter, Lisa Ann Dodson; sister, Helen Edmonds; and brothers, James Clyde Jr., Stanley, Robert, Frank, Charles Lee and Paul.

Anna is survived by one sister, Ruth and husband, Joe Quillen; one brother, Ralph and wife, Pat Anderson, all of Kingsport; sisters-in-law, Vaudine Anderson of Leesburg, FL, and Geneva Anderson of Tullahoma, TN; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 6-7:00 pm on Thursday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm with Dr. Ron Davis officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted on Friday at 1:00 pm at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery at 12:45 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 200 W. Church Circle, Kingsport, TN 37660, or to the charity of one's choice.
