Anna L. Gray, of Kingsport, went home peacefully on June 28, 2009, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. She was born to Arthur D. and Saphrona M. Fleenor in Big Stone Gap, VA, where she was also raised. She moved to Kingsport at an early age where she met and married Hubert F. Gray. She was of the Methodist faith. She was a wonderful homemaker, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a person who saw the special qualities in everyone she met.
Anna was preceded in death by her husband of 59½ years, Hubert F. Gray; her parents; two sisters, Helen Harkleroad and Hazel Collier; and a brother, Arthur Fleenor.
She is survived by three daughters, Sandra Harmon of Kingsport, Diane Gilmore and husband Gary of Kingsport, and Jane Harwood and husband Bill of Kingsport; two sons, Ronnie Gray and wife Karen of Odenton, MD, and Kim Mark Gray and fiancé Wendi Womack of Ackworth, GA; six grandchildren, Charles Robert Harmon, Jr., Christopher R. Harmon, Heather N. Harwood, Holly E. Harwood, Joshua W. Harwood, and Lauren E. Gray; four great-grandchildren, Abigail G. Harmon, Samuel C. Harmon, Eli Cole Harmon, and Evan Gray Harmon; two sisters, Veda Blanche Plesant of Big Stone Gap, VA, and Lillian H. Fleenor of Odenton, MD; one brother, Willard Fleenor of Big Stone Gap, VA; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Byrd and Geraldine Gray, both of Kingsport; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and host of special friends.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor J.W. Depew and Minister Gary Bement officiating.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. at East Lawn Memorial Park. Grandsons and sons-in-law will serve as pallbearers.
