Anna "Jimmie" Helton, Kingsport, died peacefully while surrounded by many she loved on Thursday, January 21, 2010.
She was born July 30, 1934 in Saltville, VA to the late Arch and Ideal Hannah Helton. Jimmie was proud to be a Kingsport resident most of her life and spent many of her later years in the cabin of her dreams on a small farm in Chuckey, TN. She spent her life as a housewife, mother and waitress for over 30 years working at many local restaurants, including Lynn Garden Restaurant and Center Street Restaurant.
In addition to her parents, Jimmie was preceded in death by her beloved son, Michael Steven Harless; grandson, Christopher Michael Harless; sister, Betty Barrett; and brother, Herschel Helton.
Surviving are her loving companion, James Carmack of Chuckey, TN; daughter, Nancy Fender and husband Roger; son, David Harless and wife Jeanne, all of Mount Carmel; sisters, Elizabeth Barrett of Honaker VA and Jeanette Bita of Lorraine, OH; brothers, Hubert Helton of Mt. Clemmons, MI and Ed Helton of Castlewood, VA; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Monday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport or anytime at the home of her daughter, 632 Independence Avenue, Mount Carmel.
Services will be held at 6:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with Pastor J. W. Depew and Rev. Richard Willis officiating.
