Anna Ruth Lewis, 79, of Harmony Community, Jonesborough, passed away early Monday morning, September 28, 2009, after a period of declining health.
Anna was a housewife, and operated a dairy farm with her husband for many years. She was employed at Kingsport Press for 6 years. She was a member of Harmony Baptist Church, where she enjoyed attending the senior citizens' luncheons when her health permitted.
She was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Lee Lewis; her father, Clifford "Tip" Hite; mother, Leona Ferguson Hite; and two brothers, Henry Hite and Jimmy Hite.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Bill Lewis; daughter, Fredna Smith and husband John; a son, Billy Joe Lewis and wife Kathie; two granddaughters, Kalen Lewis and Kara Lewis, all of Jonesborough. She is also survived by brother-in-law Dean Lewis and sister-in-law Ethel Lewis, both of Jonesborough, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 till 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Harmony Baptist Church. Services will be conducted at 8 p.m., with Rev. Steve Pate and Rev. Greg Davis officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Sulphur Springs Cemetery. Pallbeares will be Mike Lewis, Ricky Lewis, Lynn Hite, Ethan Hite, Bo Wheelock, and Al Wheelock. Honorary pallbearers are Steve Lewis, Don Lewis, Burl Fann, Jr., and Marty Hayes.
