Anna Mae Starnes Rittenhouse, 73, of Kingsport, died May 6, 2009, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. Born in Hawkins County, she lived in Kingsport most of her adult life. She was a homemaker. Ann had been a devoted and faithful member of First Christian Church since 1973.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bessie and Sherman Starnes; three sisters, Ruth Britton, Lucille Burrell, and Blanche Walton; and two brothers Sherman Starnes, Jr. and Jimmy Starnes.
Ann is survived by her husband, Lyle Rittenhouse; daughters, Kathy Jordan and Sherri Chess and husband Shane, all of Kingsport; one son, Scott Rittenhouse of Kingsport; sister Opal Hubbs and husband Ray of Morristown; two sisters-in-law, Viola Starnes and Norene Starnes, both of Kingsport; six grandchildren, Travis Liner, Kristen Liner, Taylor Jordan, Colton Chess, Joshua Chess, and Jacob Chess; great-grandson, Braedyn Liner and a best friend of fifty years, Barbara Guy of Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 ? 8:00 p.m. at First Christian Church. The funeral service will follow at 8:00 p.m. with Phillip Sams, Minister, officiating and music by Bob Dade and Beverly McConnell.
Graveside services will take place on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Friends and family members desiring to go in procession should meet at the funeral home by 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Pallbearers will be grandsons, nephews and friends.
