Anne Brooks Shaffer Anderson

Anne Brooks Shaffer Anderson was born on Aug. 24, 1923 in Hamblen Co. TN. She graduated from Sullivan High School in 1941 and in 1943 she joined the U.S. Navy Waves. During WW II, she tracked enemy submarines by radio signals. She married Jim Shaffer in 1947 deceased 1986 and adopted his two sons. She worked at Eastman for 38 yrs. and retired in 1983 as Supervisor of Clerical Services in Engineering Div. In 1995 she married Jess Anderson and they lived in Florida until his death. She was a member of Oakwood Forest Christian Church, and a member of Kingsport Women of the Moose.

She is survived by a brother, Tom Brooks; sons, Joe and John Shaffer, three grandsons and one granddaughter, and five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 from 10:00 11:00 a.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel with Rev. Tiger Brooks officiating.

Graveside services will follow at Gunnings Cemetery. The family will serve as pallbearers.
