Archie C. Stice

Archie C. Stice, 87, died Friday, October 7, 2011 at Holston Valley Medical Center. He grew up in Michigan and served in the U.S. Navy in WWII. He received 4 medals in recognition of his service to his country. Archie graduated from Michigan State University in 1950 with an engineering degree and joined Dow Chemical Company where he held several positions during a 34 year career with assignments in Michigan, Florida, Georgia and Texas.

Archie is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Nita; son Michael Stice and wife Melodie of Kingsport; son Randy Stice of Knoxville; daughter Melissa Dahl and husband Rickey of Murfreesboro; grandsons Joel Stice and Blaine Dahl; granddaughter Whitney Stice Barnes and husband David; and sister Shirley Robbins and husband Ken of Palatka, Florida.

He loved golf, skiing, the outdoors and all sports. Archie enjoyed his retirement years in Kingsport. His faith was the foundation of his life and he was an active member of First Broad Street United Methodist Church. His greatest accomplishment and his greatest joy was his family, and they will miss him very much.

Entombment services, open to everyone, will be on Sunday, October 9, 2011 at 1:15 pm at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Military graveside rites will be provided by American Legion post 3/265.

Memorial services will follow at 2:00 pm at First Broad Street United Methodist Church, Rev. Mickey Rainwater and Rev. Jack Weikel officiating. Family will receive friends at the church immediately following the service.
