Arleen R. Barker, 85, of Kingsport, passed away on Wednesday morning, January 16, 2013 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center following an extended illness. Born in Kingston, TN on February 8, 1927, a daughter of the late Charles S. and Dora Andrews Robinett, she had resided in this area most of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of State Line Baptist Church. Arleen will be remembered as a loving mom, mamaw, great-grandmother, sister and friend.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, George G. Barker in 2003 and a sister, Ibbie Cook.
Arleen is survived by her son, Dennis Barker and wife, Marie of Kingsport; daughter, Sharon Gilliam and husband Chip of Kingsport; four grandchildren, Mary Collins and husband, Cory, Michelle Gilliam, Sarah Barker and Matt Barker and wife, Kayla;
two great-grandchildren, Makenzie Barker and Jordyn Collins; stepson, Bruce Barker, wife Teresa and family of Kingsport; sister, Lola Nichols of Kingsport and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted on Saturday, January 19th at 12:00 pm at Oak Hill Memorial Park with Pastor Charles Kilbourne officiating. Those attending the graveside services are asked to assemble at the cemetery by 11:45am.
Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
