Arthur Terry

Arthur ?Tip? Terry, 77, Kingsport, went to be with the Lord Friday, August 10, 2007 after a lengthy illness.

Tip was born in Lee County in Ben Hur, VA and moved to Yuma, VA in 1959. He came to Kingsport in 1999 and lived at Friendship Manor Apartments until he moved to Wexford House in 2005.

He worked at Tri-City Laundry and later retired from Kingsport Motors after 28 years of service.

Tip was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harmon B. Terry 1977; mother, Rebecca Terry 1978; nephews, Terry Owens and Phillip Massengill; and brother-in-law, Jack Massengill.

Surviving are four sisters, Jean Bartley and husband Marvin, Ben Hur, VA, Betty T. Massengill, Kingsport, Mary Frances Owens and husband Bill, Clyde, OH, and Barbara Page, Kingsport; one brother, Charles Ellis Terry, Kingsport; nephews, Johnny Bartley, Roanoke, VA, Dennis Owens and wife Jennifer, Cleveland, OH, Kevin Page and wife Trina, Willow Springs, NC, Mark Massengill and wife Donna, Church Hill, Mike Terry, and Chris Terry, both of Kingsport; nieces, Susan Widner and husband, Rob, Ben Hur VA, ad Carmen DeVault and husband Gary, Crossville, TN; great-nephews, Logan Massengill, Mount Carmel, Ben DeVault, Crossville, TN, and Parker, Cleveland, OH; and one great-niece, Amanda of Cleveland, OH.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.

Services will follow at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with Rev. Wrightly Salley, Rev. Edward Ray, and Rev. Paul Davis officiating. Music will be provided by Damon Depew.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Lee Memorial Gardens, Woodway, VA. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery at 12:45 p.m. Monday.
