Athalee Arnott Chase

Athalee Arnott Chase passed away on Monday, April 18, 2016 at the Life Care Center in Gray, Tennessee. She was born November 11, 1923, in Hawkins County, to John J. and Helen Ruddle Arnott. Athalee was the oldest living member of Eastern Star Free Will Baptist Church, having attended for 74 years. She served for many years as the Church Clerk. Athalee was a homemaker and enjoyed making crafts, crocheting, and quilting as long as she was able to do so.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Orlie M. "Junior" Chase in December of 2015. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Joe, Afton, and Julian Arnott.

Athalee is survived by her children; Wade and Peggy Cox; grandchildren, Sonja Crowe and Miles and Tammy Cox; great-grandson, Gunnar Crow; sister-in-law, Lois Arnott; three nieces; and two nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at Eastern Star Free Will Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow with Rev. George Winegar and Pastor Kevin Rose officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at Eastern Star Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Kenny Amburgy, Gentry Ferguson, Ken Thompson, Eddie Barry, Warren Vicars, Mike Carroll, Teddy Whetsel, and Junior Grills.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Eastern Star Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Betty Hale, 2020 Fordtown Road, Jonesborough, TN 37659.

The family would like to express their appreciation for the kindness and loving care given by the nurses, doctors, and all personnel of the Life Care Center of Gray and Caris Healthcare.
