Augustus Gus P. G. Biddle, 68, of Kingsport, passed away Wednesday, May 19, 2010, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Philadelphia, PA, on January 5, 1942, to the late Henry and Nannie Biddle. He attended UVA, Washington & Lee, and Wharton, receiving degrees in Psychology, Law, and MBA respectively. He worked for Firestone International, becoming their youngest director overseas, after returning to the U.S. Gus went to work for Wyomissing Corporation, leaving in 1990 and moving to Kingsport where he worked for Holliston Mills and then for Blachford Rubber Corp. where he retired due to illness. He is survived by his wife, Christina K. Biddle, of Kingsport; two daughters, Cabell
Biddle Sweeney, of Rome, Georgia, and Anna C. M. Biddle, of Kingsport; a son, Augustus P. G. Biddle, Jr., and wife, Michelle, Ball Ground, Georgia; three granddaughters, Caroline, Canby, and Catherine; and two brothers, H. Canby Biddle, Jr., and wife, Barbara, Greeneville, TN, and Grafton Minot Biddle, St. Augustine, FL.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Dominic Church, with Father Paul Valleroy officiating. Visitation will follow.
