Avery C. Moore

Avery C. Moore, 91, of Kingsport, passed away Monday morning, Sept. 5, 2011 at her home.

She was born in Mendota, Va. and had resided in Kingsport most of her life. She had worked for Piggly Wiggly and Speed-Chek and was a "Rosie the Riveter" during WWII.

She was preceded in death by her parents David and Ollie Wood; sisters, Leo Wood and Jessie Reese

Surviving are her daughter and son in law, Marcia Estes and husband Dan, Kingsport; son and daughter in law, David and Nora Moore, Climax, N.C.; grandson, Drew Moore, Greensboro, N.C.; and three nieces.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport.

Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with Pastor Joe Barber officiating.

A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Holston View Cemetery in Weber City, Va. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 9:45.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
