Barbara Josephine Burks Stephens

Barbara Stephens, 72, Kingsport, went to live forever in her heavenly home on November 12, 2014. Barbara was born September 9, 1942, in Lawrenceburg, TN. She was married to her best friend and soul mate, Harris Stephens Jr., on March 14, 1961, and they lived life to its fullest during their nearly 53 years together. She taught Sunday school classes at Colonial Heights Baptist Church, was a licensed beautician, and was a successful real estate agent while raising her children in Kingsport. Barbara loved to travel and was able to see much of the world while she and her husband lived overseas. She was a loving and caring friend, was completely devoted to the care of her loved ones, and was a primary care giver for father, mother, mother-in-law, husband, and children during their times of need. Barbara and her husband were members of First Broad Street United Methodist Church in Kingsport.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Harris, father Luther Burks, and mother Lois Falls Burks.

Barbara is survived by her son Bruce (Cathy), daughter Robyn Budine (Marc) and son Scott (Lacey). She was the proud and loved Nana to Luke, Laney, Taylor, Leah, Ansley, and Ryan. She is also survived by her brother Richard Burks (Pat).

The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 22, 2014 from 11am to 1pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. A Memorial Service will follow at 1pm.

An inurnment service will follow at First Broad Street United Methodist Church Columbarium.
