ROCKFORD, IL -- Barbara Guy Wallen, 66, of Rockford died at 10:15 p.m. Saturday, November 29, 2008, at her home.
She was born December 6, 1941, in Kingsport, Tennessee to Robert and Nettie Barker Guy. On June 8, 1957, she married William Jackson Wallen in Gate City, Virginia. He died in 1993. Barbara was formerly employed at Gates Rubber Co. and was also a machine operator at Ben Carter Machinery Co.
Preceding her in death were a son, Billy John Wallen; sisters, Ruby Housewright, Eva Mae Cassidy and Hazel Hollar; and a brother, Hubert Guy.
Survivors include her daughters, Regina Diana Michael Thomas of Kingsport, Brenda Lee Ross Miller of Rockford; her son, David Lynn Tanda Wallen of Knoxville, TN; daughters-in-law, Judy Wallen of Rockford, IL, Gale Wallen of Rockford; one sister, Bonnie of Kingsport, TN; one brother, Preston of Kingsport, TN; and fourteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. Friday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Rev. Chad Riner officiating. Music will be provided by Robin Cobb.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Old Kingsport Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Wallen, Michael Thomas, C. J. Holdway, Donnie Carroll, Junior Quillen, and Wesley Humphrey.
