Bascom Calvin Noel

Bascom C. Noel, 82, Church Hill, went to be with the Lord early Sunday December 3, 2006 at his home following a brief illness.

Born November 27, 1924 in Scott County, Virginia, to the late E. J. and Lizzie Noel, he had resided in Church Hill since 1964. Mr. Noel was a veteran of the U. S. Army. Bascom had retired from AFG following 35 years of service. He also enjoyed farming.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Frances McCloud Noel; two daughters, Mildred McCrary and Tina Monneyham; one son, Donnie Noel; two infant grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Wanda Noel; three sisters, Rosie Carl, Verda Horne, and Sally Starnes; and seven brothers, Morgan, Barney, Orbin, Walter, Oakley, Johnny, and Roy Noel.

Surviving are his three daughters, Wanda Smith and husband, Waford ?Max?, of Finger, TN, Shelby Swanner and husband, Darrell, of Church Hill, and Sharon Hammonds of Kingsport; one son, Ray Noel and wife, Sandra, of Church Hill; special friend and companion, Elizabeth Allred, of Rogersville; nine grandchildren, Shawn Edwards and husband, Tommy, Melony Smith and friend, Yost, Chris Marshall and wife, Stephanie, Brandy Cloyd and husband, Alan, Calvin Noel and friend, Mandy, T.J. Hammonds, Chad Houston, Maggie Colangelo, Tonia Clark and husband, Sam; eight great-grandchildren, Zach, Justin, Kara, Caitlyn, Jacqueline, Zachary, Caleb, and Kylee; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport, or anytime at the son?s, Ray Noel?s, home at 339 Dotson Lane, Church Hill, TN.

Services will be conducted Monday at 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Jerry Webb officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Church Hill Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Calvin Noel, Alan Cloyd, Ronnie Noel, Dwayne Noel, Robert Horne, and Kyle Horne. Nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers.
