Basil R. Morelock, 76, of Beech Creek Community, Rogersville, TN, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 15, 2009, at his home after a period of declining health.
He retired from the Sullivan County Highway Department. His hobbies included fishing, and he loved his roosters.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Shirley, his parents, Base and Viola Morelock, a sister, Emily, and a brother, Ray.
Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Gregg and husband Clay, of Kingsport,, and Karen Renfro and husband Lanie, Beech Creek; two sons, Eddie Allen and wife, of Crossville, Alabama, and Rick Morelock of the home; eight grandchildren, Mandy, Nicole, Damien, Joseph, Angelina, Phillip, Jonathan, and Zane; and three great-grandchildren, Thì Le, Danyl, and Sean; a sister, Thelma Light, of Rogersville; a brother, James "Chippy" Morelock; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Fall Branch, on Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Services will follow at 8:00, with Rev. Teddy Webb and Rev. Jack Morelock officiating. Honorary minister will be Orville Dolen.
Burial will be at Mt. Carmel Freewill Baptist Cemetery in Rogersville on Thursday at 11:00 a.m.
Pallbearers will be Lanie Renfro, Damien Morelock, Joel Williams, Dewayne Archie Head, Billy Light, and Roy Lee Crawford. Honorary pallbearers are Clay Gregg, Junior Light, and Jimmy Fann.
