Bea Marie Bement

Born in Jamestown, NY, on May 16, 1923, and surrounded by family and friends, our beloved mother, Bea Marie Bement (Bess Calco) 90, peacefully walked out of this life and into the arms of our Lord and Savior on November 23, 2013.

On December 31, 1943, she married Tom Bement, the beginning of a 70 year marriage. In 1960 they moved to Starke, FL, where she raised her family; working and retiring from Florida State Prison.

During retirement, Bea and Tom enjoyed traveling, which they did mostly by car, well into their eighties.

Eventually, they settled in Kingsport, TN to be closer to their family. They made Preston Place Assisted Living their new home. Much like everywhere Bea and Tom visited, a lasting impression was made on many hearts and they will be greatly missed.

Bea was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Bement; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Calco; three brothers, Frank, Anthony, and Sebastian; and a sister, Anna Calco.

She is survived by sons, Gary (Sylvia), and Greg (Tina); daughter, Teri Nicklin (Bob); six grandchildren, Bret (Traci), Jared (Mary Beth), Ian, Jordan, Loren (Misty) and Andy (Kristy); ten great-grandchildren, Codi, Braylin, Kinsley, Isaias, Gideon, Tobiah, Chase, Ayden, Shae, and Trey; and a sister, Jaye Cochran;

A memorial service will be held Sunday, November 24, 2013, with visitation at 1:30 p.m. and the service at 2:00 p.m. in the Activities Room at Preston Place Suites.

The family would like to thank all the staff of Preston Place Assisted Living and Amedisys Hospice for all their love and care for Bea.
