Becky Jean Ballard, 62, of Kingsport passed away on Friday, May 4, 2012. She was born in Covington, KY and moved to Kingsport in 1970. Becky had two passions in her life, her family and her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a member of Colonial Heights Christian Church and active in the Women's Fellowship. Her love of her Lord led her to minister encouragement and hope to all who knew her through prayer and deeds. Becky was an outstanding seamstress who excelled at sewing, cross stitch, quilting and knitting. In 2004, her creations won 12 blue and red ribbons at the Appalachian State Fair. Becky always put her family and friends first. She will be missed more than words could ever express.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Grant Cherrington and Frances Lemons Cherrington.
She is survived by her husband of 41½ years, Michael; her daughter, Lori Larkins and husband, David of Kingsport, and grandchildren, Katie and Andrew; sons, John Ballard and wife, Christy of Louisville, KY, and grandchildren, Grant and Nicholas, and Joshua Ballard and wife, Sarah of Knoxville, TN and granddaughter, Madison; and brother, Bill Cherrington and sister-in-law, Peggy of Cincinnati, OH.
Calling hours will be on Thursday, May 10, 2012 from 4:00-7:00 pm at Colonial Heights Christian Church. A celebration of her life will be held following the visitation. Services will be conducted by Rev. Bruce Montgomery.
Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, May 11th at East Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
