Bernice Powers Fritz, 94, of Kingsport, passed away on Sunday, July 11, 2010, at Preston Place Suites.
Mrs. Fritz was very active in a succession of entrepreneurial ventures in her life, such as canaries, African violets, cairn terriers, and daylilies. She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and multiple garden clubs.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Calvin Fritz; granddaughter, Kathryn Fritz; brother, Ray Powers; and sister, Mildred Davis.
She is survived by three sons, Theodore Allan Fritz and wife, Sarah Lynn, Boston, MA, Donald Calvin Fritz, Sr., and wife, Tammy, Kingsport, and Gerald Wayne Fritz and wife, Betty, Oak Hill, VA; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; and ten nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Services will be conducted on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, with Pastor Steve Counts officiating. Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park.
Serving as pallbearers will be Gregory Fritz, Kimberly Fritz, Deborah Fritz, Kevin Fritz, Douglas Fritz, Donald Fritz, Jr., and Nathan Fritz.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Boy Scouts of America Sequoyah Council, 129 Boone Ridge Drive, Johnson City, TN 37615, or to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 800 Broad Street, Kingsport, TN 37660.
