Bernice Phillips Oaks 85, of Kingsport passed away Monday, December 24, 2007 at the home of her son following a brief illness.
A native of Hawkins County, she had been a resident of Kingsport since 1935. Mrs. Oaks retired from Indian Path Medical Center after 15 years of service as a CNA. She also served as a Red Cross Volunteer at Indian Path and was a member of Ft. Robinson Baptist Church.
Preceding her in death were her husbands, Ruble Phillips and Dudley Oaks; one sister; and five brothers.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Marion and Carolyn Phillips, Knoxville; one granddaughter, Leslie Hartley and husband, Damon, Chillicothe, Ohio; one great-grandson, Nicholaus Ganus; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12- 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 28, 2007, at Ft. Robinson Baptist Church.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 pm Friday at the church with Pastor Jeff Wallen officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Nicholaus Ganus, Damon Hartley, Mike Creasman, Donnie Creasman, Robert Brooks, Danny Vaughn, James Trent and John Hensley.
