Mrs. Bertha Smith Brown, 96, Kingsport, passed away Thursday, February 1, 2007, at SunBridge Care & Rehabilitation-Hillside.
She was born in Monroe County, Tennessee, but had resided in Kingsport since 1927. Mrs. Brown was a charter member of Taylor Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Charles Emmitt Brown on June 7, 1989; her parents, George and Cordelia Millsap Smith; a son, Don Brown; grandson, David Hensley; a son-in-law, Dewey Hensley; five sisters; and three brothers.
Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Betty Hensley, Hiltons, Virginia, and Judy and Shannon Powers, Kingsport; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Kenneth Brown, Kingsport, and Paul and Jackie Brown, Bristol, TN; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Taylor Baptist Church,
385 Bancroft Chapel Road, Kingsport.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Taylor Baptist Church with Pastor Shannon Powers officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
