Bertha Edith Rhoten

Bertha Edith Blevins Rhoten, 90, formerly of Gray, TN, passed away Saturday, July 6, 2013, at Close to Home Hospice House in Gillette, Wyoming. Born in Russell County, VA, on January 9, 1923, a daughter of the late Hobart and Martha Clifton Blevins, she has lived in this area most of her life.

She was a homemaker who enjoyed her flower and vegetable gardens. She was a member of Buffalo Ridge Baptist Church in Gray.

In addition to her parents, Bertha was preceded in death by her husband Houston Rhoten (1990); sisters and brothers, Dorothy, Polly, Mary, Tavis, Lee, Everette, Ernest and Belle.

She is survived by her children, Wilma Baird, Atlanta, GA, Patsy Gray and husband, Jimmy, Limestone, Betty Jane Stubbs and husband, Patrick, South Carolina, and Brenda Wright and husband, Ronald, Moorcroft, WY; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 11, 2013, at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 12, 2013, in the Chapel. Burial will follow at Tri Cities Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
