Mrs. Bertha "Clairene" Williams, 78, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord, Friday, June 27, 2014. She was the daughter of the late E.P. "Boots" and Maxie Mae Miller and spent her early career as a candy striper at Holston Valley Community Hospital and working for General Shale. Clairene was a very devout Christian and spent her life honoring and glorifying God. She served others in many capacities with the Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, Sunnyside Baptist Church, American Red Cross, and at Indian Springs Elementary School PTA. She worked for Moody's Bookstore, Tri-Cities Center for Christian Counseling, and then started The Master's Place Christian Bookstore, which she operated for over 30 years.
Clairene was preceded in death by her parents, E.P. "Boots" and Maxie Mae Miller.
Survivors include her husband, Ronald Williams; three sons, Harold Williams and wife Sharon, Darryl "Gomer" Williams, and David Williams; two grandchildren, C.J. Williams and Adrianna Williams; special sons, Randal and Jonathon Lane; special sister, Nancy Rayfield; and special nieces, Myra, Connie, and Gayle.
The family will receive friends, Monday, 6-8:00pm, at Sunnyside Baptist Church with funeral services immediately following at 8:00pm with Dr. Roy Graves officiating.
Graveside services will be held, Tuesday, 11am, at East Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Vernon Kimball, Mike Fields, Jonathan Smith, Don Mumpower, Donnie Snapp, Mike Bowery, Linton Kerr, David Helton, Josh Kerr, and Craig Rogers. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Shelton, Gene Hilton, Gary Clark, Ron Dotson, Tom Rogers, Carson Wilson, and Ken Swinney.
At the family's request, memorial contributions can be made in lieu of flowers to Sunnyside Baptist Church for the Gomer Williams African Mission or to WHCB Christian Radio Station at P.O. Box 2061, Bristol, TN 37621.
