Bessie J. Tucker, 100, of Kingsport, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 2, 2012, in her home, surrounded by her family.
Bessie was born on June 20, 1911 to the late Harvey and Polly Bozzell. She was a member of New Hope Evangelical Presbyterian Church. She loved singing in the choir and was a member of the choir for many years. She was dearly loved by her family and friends and her little dog Sophie.
She was preceded in death by her husband W.C. "Bill" Tucker; 2 sons, Billy Tucker and Jack Tucker; 2 daughter-in-laws, Jerry Tucker and Nina Tucker.
She is survived by her daughters, Patsy Tucker Arnold and husband Shell of Big Stone Gap, VA, Gaye Tucker Neeley and husband Joe of Kingsport; 1 son, Ray "Jim" Tucker and wife Jenny of Florida; 8 grandchildren, Linda Tucker Knowles of Lakewood, IL, Cathy Berg of Lake Villa, IL, Patricia McNeil of Chicago, IL, Jacqueline Tucker of Algonquin, IL, Elizabeth Tucker Westfallen of Mount Prospect, IL, Ann Morris of Rohnert Park, CA, Patrick Arnold of Big Stone Gap, VA, William Tucker of Chincoteague, VA; 17 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, and several nephews.
The family would like to send a very special thank you to Wellmont Hospice and also to Amedysis Home Health, especially Kim Meade for all the love and care she gave Bessie and also Tina Reece and Sharon Dezlera.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson in Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastors Richard Willis and Rodney Bailey officiating. Interment will follow in Powell Valley Memorial Gardens, Big Stone Gap, VA.
Pallbearers will be Bob Berg, Gene Bloxom, John Greene, Jerry Ward, Alex Tucker, and Patrick Arnold.
