Betty Preas Bandy

Betty Preas Bandy, 88, Kingsport, died on Friday, July 31, 2009, at Bays Mountain Retirement Center. Betty was born in Staunton, VA, on August 10, 1920, and spent her youth in Johnson City where she graduated from Science Hill High School in 1938. She was married to T.R. Bandy, Jr. in June of 1939. Betty was a loving mother and housewife who was active in the Junior League of Kingsport and a member of the Tri-Cities Baptist Church.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, James H. Preas, Jr. and Evangeline Harmon Preas, and her husband, T.R. Bandy, Jr.

She is survived by her son, Thomas R. Bandy, III, of Kingsport and daughter-in-law, Donna Goforth Bandy of the Life Care Center of Gray, TN; sister, Evangeline Preas Spratley and husband E.M. "Ned" of Midlothian, VA; and nephew, E.M. "Jack" Spratley also of Midlothian, VA.

A memorial service will be held on Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport, with Dr. Daryl Crouch officiating.
