Betty Ruth Ferrell Bishop, 69, of Johnson City, TN, passed away on January 11, 2011 in Myrtle Beach, SC.
Ms. Bishop was born on April 9, 1941 in Kingsport, TN, to Victoria and Roy Ferrell. She was a graduate of Lynn View High School. Ms. Bishop dedicated many years of her life to witnessing to others about the love of Christ. She became a minister later in her life, served and retired in the Holston Conference of the United Methodist Church.
Ms. Bishop was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Bishop, and her brother, Roy Ferrell.
Ms. Bishop is survived by her three children, Johnny Stallard, Vicki Clark, Penny Brewer; son-in-law, Dickie Brewer; grandsons, Dustin Wells and Austin Stallard; brothers, George and Bobby Ray Ferrell; and sister, Margaret Casey.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 pm on Friday, January 14, 2011 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport.
A service to celebrate Ms. Bishop's life will follow the visitation at 6:00 p.m. with Pastor Dennis Ford officiating. An inurnment service will be held at East Lawn Memorial Park on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at 11 am.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Stroke Association, 7272 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX, 75231.
