Betty Curry

Betty Curry, 76, Kingsport, TN, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at her home following a brave bout with cancer.

Born in Sullivan County where she was a lifelong resident, she retired from Borden Mills.

Betty was a member of Higher Ground Baptist Church.

Her mother, Sallie Lingerfelt Manis preceded her in death.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Joe Curry; one daughter, Patty Burton and husband Mickey of Kingsport; one grandson, Reid Burton and wife Kristin of Kingsport; three sisters-in-law, Mildred Sprinkle, Barbara Oaks, and Ruth Sproles, all of Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.

Services will follow at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Dr. Phil Hoskins officiating. Music will be provided by Wayne Bledsoe.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at East Lawn Memorial Park. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery at 10:45 a.m.

Pallbearers will be Larry "Ronnie" Lingerfelt, Jimmy Sproles, Mack Gale, Justin Hincke, Brian Trent, and Matthew Wallen.

Memorials may be made to the Student Ministry of Higher Ground Baptist Church, P. O. Box 4135, Kingsport, TN 37665.
