Mrs. Betty L. Dodson, 75, of Kingsport, passed away unexpectedly, Friday afternoon at Holston Valley Medical Center, July 25, 2014. Betty was born in Rutledge graduating from Rutledge High School, class of 1957. Betty moved to Kingsport with her husband Bill in December 1957. She was a homemaker and a loving caregiver for many of her family members. She was always finding ways to help others. She was of the Baptist faith.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Nettie Mae Johnson and brother, Dean Johnson.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, Bill R. Dodson, of the home; daughter Sandra Kay "Sandy" Dodson; brother, Robert Don Johnson and wife Bonnie of Salina, KS; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends, Monday, July 28, 2014, 12-2:00pm, Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Services will immediately follow at 2:00pm, Hamlett-Dobson Chapel, with Dr. Phil Hoskins officiating. Burial will be held following the services at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Garrett, Bro. Joe Byrd, Kermit Morelock, Ed Morelock, Hugh Alley, Jr., Carl Alley and Freddy Baker. Pallbearers are Don Wolfe, Richard Hall, Harold Norris, Jerry Hurd, Ben Tittsworth, Tony Winstead, Bobby Pereira and Jason McConnell.
