Betty Church Erwin, 74, of Kingsport, died Thursday, November 13, 2014 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center after an extended illness. Born in Sullivan County, she had resided in Kingsport most of her life. Betty was a 1957 graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School and worked in real estate in the Kingsport area for over 30 years. Betty was a dedicated Christian and a member of Calvary Baptist Church for all of her life. She enjoyed gardening, decorating and playing cards. The family would like to thank Dr. Dan Carroll and his staff for their care and support.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mary Bullis.
Betty is survived by her three sons, Phillip Church and wife, Rebecca of Kennett Square, PA, Jeff Church of Foxfire Village, NC, and Randy Church and wife, Laurie of Jonesborough; two grandsons, Andrew Preston Church and Hayden Alexander Church; sister, Sandra Lee of Kingsport; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was most appreciative of being able to spend time with friends, family and caregivers during the last few years of her life.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, from 3-5:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 5:00 pm with Pastor Donnie Brannen officiating.
The graveside service will be held on Sunday at 3:00 pm at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 1238 Pine St., Kingsport, TN 37664.
