Betty Jo Light

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: henceforth there is laid up for

Betty Jo Light, Oak Glen Community of Fall Branch was born February 13, 1942, to Daniel and Dellie Light and passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2008, at her home after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was employed at Miller Perry Elementary and Sullivan Elementary Schools, retiring in 2004 after 30 years of service. Mrs. Light was a member of Solomon's Temple Missionary Baptist Church.

Betty was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend to all.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Hazel Hill; three brothers, Earl Light, Carl Light, and Pete Light; a niece, Rita Smith; nephews, Jack Crawford, Larry Light, Randall Painter, Ricky Painter; and father of her children, Carl Crawford.

Surviving are four daughters, Janet Reynolds and husband, Mike of Chuckey, TN, Teressa Crawford of Church Hill, Becky McCracken and husband, Mickey of Kingsport, Tammy Russell and husband, Rick of Greeneville; one son, Earney Crawford and wife, Anna of Fall Branch; nine grandchildren, Adraine Reynolds, Amanda Davis, Makayla McCracken, Hannah Carr, Nathaniel Carr, Brandi Russell, Shawna Hamilton and husband Greg, Cody Crawford, Caitlyn Crawford; two great-grandchildren, Corieon and Corbian Seckler; four sisters, Maude Dolen and husband Orville, Edna Mae Fletcher and husband Gary, Bonnie Cox and husband Roy, and Mable Light and husband Garfield, all of Kingsport.

The family would like to say a special thanks to Johnson City Medical Center and Dr. Judith White and Staff and to the special people in her life - Missy Glisson and son Luke, Pamela Long, Whitney Cleek, and Ryan Bean.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Fall Branch. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Dr. Tim Perry officiating. Music will be provided by Cris Mullins.

The family will go in procession from the funeral home Saturday to Morrison Cemetery in Rogersville for graveside services at 10:00 a.m.

Pallbearers are Brian Light, Glen Light, Brandon Jobe, Chuck Jobe, Roy Dolen, and Kenny Higgens.
Honorary pallbearers are Cody Cleek, Nathaniel Carr, and Eddie Light.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
