Betty T. Massengill, 77, of Kingsport, passed away Sunday, November 13, 2011 at Indian Path Medical Center following a brief illness. She was born in Ben Hur, Virginia and had resided in Kingsport most of her life. Betty retired from Walmart with over 20 years of service and was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack T. Massengill; son, Phil Massengill; parents, Harmon and Rebecca Terry; two brothers, Ellis and Tip Terry and sister, Frances Owens.
Betty is survived by son, Mark Massengill and wife, Donna of Church Hill; grandson, Logan Massengill of Mount Carmel; granddaughter, Jessica Dent of Church Hill; two sisters, Barbara Page of Kingsport and Jean Bartley and husband, Marvin of Ben Hur; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 from 6-8:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport and anytime at the home of the son, 313 Kay Avenue, Church Hill. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at 10:00 a.m., with Pastor Mike Stout officiating.
Graveside services will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Bryan Hinson, Kevin Hinson, Kevin Page, Gary DeVault, Ben DeVault and Rob Widener. Honorary pallbearers will be Ed Ray, Marvin Bartley and Johnny Bartley.
The family would like to thank the staff, nurses and doctors at Indian Path Medical Center, 5th floor, with a special thanks to the ICU staff.
