Betty Gott Odom, 75, Kingsport, precious wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and devout Christian, died at 8 a.m. Monday November 26, 2007 at her home.
A resident of Kingsport her entire life, Betty was a member of State Line Baptist Church where she played the piano and taught Sunday School for many years.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joshua Dana Odom; parents, Raymond Paul Gott and Frances Jewell Duncan Gott; and sister, Wilma Polly.
Surviving are her daughter, Janet S. Owen and husband, Parker; son, Steven D. Odom and wife, Betty, all of Kingsport; grandchildren, Jonathan Odom, Brandon Dinsmore and wife, Susan, Will Owen and wife, Suzy, and Tracy Owen; one great-grandson, Ethan Dinsmore; sister, Alice Spivey, Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Services will follow at 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Dr. Tony Gonzalez officiating.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Family and friends will gather at the funeral home by 10:30 a.m. to go in procession.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan Odom, Brandon Dinsmore, Will Owen, Larry Dolen, Mike Polly, Michael Moneyhun, Mark Bishop, and Allan Greer.
Honorary pallbearer will be her great-grandson, Ethan Dinsmore.
