Betty Ricker Elliott Starnes

Betty Ricker Elliott Starnes, 86, took her heavenly flight on Sunday, July 24, 2016 with her family by her side at Church Hill Health Care after battling a long illness. Betty was born on May 17, 1930, in Greene County, TN. She worked for JC Penney in downtown Kingsport.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Cleo Ricker; husband, Emmett B. Elliott; daughter, Alice "Tina" Elliott; husband, Harold Starnes; sister, Wanda Hurst; and two brothers.

Betty is survived by daughter, Pattie White and husband, Charles of Kingsport; son, Steve Elliott and wife, Martha of Gate City, VA; son, Jerry Elliott and wife, Carla of Kingsport; daughter, Kathy Davidson and husband, Clifford of Church Hill; son, Emmett Elliott and wife, Shirley of Surgoinsville, TN; 6 grandchildren: 11 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; sister-in-law, Agnes Elliott; and sister Charlotte Heck.

Family will receive friends from 5-7:00 pm on Wednesday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport with a Celebration of Life to follow in the chapel with Pastor Wayne McCarty officiating. The inurnment will be at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Elliott, Brian Davidson, Thomas Elliott, Jeremy Ketron, Brian Thomas and Jeremy Hutchins.
