Betty Ruth Massengill, age 92, of Kingsport, TN was born March 2, 1926 and died August 11, 2018 at Ridgecrest Manor, Duffield, VA, where she lived the last five years.
She worked for over 40 years for J P Stevens in Kingsport, TN. She attended Lovelace Baptist Church in Greene County. Betty Ruth was a trophy winning bowler and an excellent chocolate pie maker. She and her husband owned a hardware store in Fall Brach and a dairy farm in Greene County, TN before his death. She lived a long, happy life and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Betty Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Ira Massengill; her parents, Ben and Eliza Fields Edwards; four sisters, Emma Melton, Eula Hart, Fern Hart, Nannie Mullins, and an infant sister, Mattie; five brothers, Howard, Isaac, Willard, Cliva Lee, and Robert.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Merle Edwards of Stickleyville, VA; several nieces and nephews; and a host of wonderful friends, especially Carolyn Wallace.
The family wishes to thank her special caregivers at Ridgecrest.

The family will receive friends from 12 noon to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport. The service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Dr. Jack Rhoton and Rev. Nancy Hobbs officiating.
Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Dale Edwards, Eddie Edwards, Glenn Early, David Early,
Adam Early, Robert Young, and Michael Clark.
